  • My "pet project" at home now uses CMake.
After looking at JAM, KJam, Boost.Build and SCons it came out as a winner for power vs simplicity. #

Tried to drive as civilized as possible just now. Got 35 mpg. Which is very good, considering that my old car was getting about 40. Of course, when you put the foot down this number goes down to 20-25 :)

Drove my new Focus ST home from work today for the first time.
The engine noise is quite amazing! Nice deep growling with a little bit of a turbo whistle.

However, it feels a little bit strange driving a much bigger car after Fiesta.
I don't "feel" the size just yet, so parking in the driveway was very very slow :)

Going to take it for a longer drive this evening.

Auction systems programmer - ideally you will have worked on a shipped title including an in-game auction system, but you will certainly have good database and networking skills, including scalability and security.

Multi-player programmer – you will have strong networking knowledge, good attention to detail, be able to interface with all of the games systems and enhance the multi-player experience.

Battle programmer – you will be a game play programmer with some experience of FSMs, path finding and animation.

Battle AI programmer – you will have academic and/or practical experience of AI, specifically fuzzy logic, FSMs, agent behavior and goal-oriented action planning.

Campaign programmer – you will be a gameplay programmer who can interact with a wide variety of game elements and should have knowledge of systems from databases to networking.

PC Graphics programmer – you will have in depth knowledge of DirectX9 or DirectX10, HLSL Shader development, and core graphics engine development, with at least one shipped title.

Here's an idea: lets use SHA-1 instead of all internal engine string identifiers (ie all asset filenames, keys in various hash tables, etc)!
I mean, what are the chances of a SHA-1 collision for two _meaningful_ strings?
Zero, for all intents and purposes...

Effect is very simple, but can look very cool in some situations.
The idea is to use the "bloom" texture from the standard HDR pipeline.
Bloom texture is sampled several times, mirroring texture coordinates and scaling them by different factors.
Then take a gray-scale result, tint it blue a little bit and add to the final image.
